WINTER ROUNDUP

March 25, 2022

Now that the dust has settled we want to send a huge congrats to all our athletes on successful seasons. Here's a quick recap of all the action.

Junior, Brooke Beresford helped lead Woodinville High School to the WIAA 4A State Championship! Along the way she picked up 2nd team All-KingCo 4A and 2nd team all 4A State Tournament honors.

Juniors Rae Butler-Wu, Jolie Sim, Ava Uusitalo, Angie Helf, and freshmen Paige Citron and Reese Roberts all contributed on a deep run for Lake Washington High School, finishing 2nd in the state for 3A.  Jolie and Rae were named to the All-KingCo 3A Honorable Mention Team and Rae also received votes for the 3A All State Tournament team.  Blazers Coach Jeff Wilson was named Coach of the Year by SB Live after a great run.

Freshman Ava Marr had a strong freshman season helping lead Archbishop Murphy to 4th in State for the 2A division.  Ava was named to the All-Wesco Honorable Mention team and 2nd Team All 2A State tournament after finishing the season with a bang.

Juniors Tatum Brager and Chloe Santeford, were huge pieces for Stanwood's run in state where they finished 6th in the 3A tournament.  Tatum and Chloe were named 2nd Team All Wesco.

Junior Monique Carter was named MVP of the SPSL and lead Emerald Ridge to the State Tournament.

PSA ATHLETE AALIYAH COLLINS IS 3X WAC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Aaliyah Collins is starting off her freshman year at Chicago State with a bang, being named WAC Freshman of the Week 3x in a row.

"Collins was first named Freshman of the Week on November 22 and has earned the honor in each week since.

On the season, Collins leads the Cougars with 15.8 points per game and ranks fourth in NCAA Division I, and leads the conference, with 31 steals."

OUR STANWOOD TRIO AND FRESHMAN AVA MARR ARE ALL PLAYERS TO WATCH IN WESCO THIS YEAR

The Herald mentioned four of our Blazers in their preseason preview of Wesco this year.

"The Spartans are led by 6-foot-4 junior post Vivienne Berrett, who averaged 15 points and 5.8 rebounds per game in the spring and is coming off a 23-point performance against Lynnwood last week. "

"They’re complemented by junior guards Tatum Brager and Chloe Santeford, who highlight a talented backcourt. "

"The Wildcats went 7-3 in the spring and are coming off an 11-point win over Lynnwood on Wednesday. They have an impact freshman in Ava Marr, who is averaging 15.3 points per game."
